The Douglas baseball team got things started off on the right foot Thursday afternoon, opening its season with an 11-0 win over Fallon in Minden.
Kaleb Foster had a single, a double and five RBIs and Nolan Weintz hit a triple and a home run, driving in four runs. Cale Kynett ended the game with a bases-loaded double, Dusty Fisher singled and doubled and Kyle Johnson had a hit.
Weintz pitched a one-hitter to pick up the win on the mound.
"He was in control from the get-go," Douglas coach Bruce Jacobsen said. "He threw all his pitches for a strike, he really did a good job."
Jacobsen said he was particularly pleased with the team's defensive effort.
"We didn't have any errors and we turned a couple double plays," Jacobsen said. "There were good things happening on defense. The kids played with a lot of energy and just went about having fun with it. It was a good start.
"Offensively, we did a good job getting guys on base, and then the guys that were coming up with runners in scoring position did a good job of driving them in. Fallon is a pretty good program, they do a good job. It's a credit to Nolan Weintz for keeping them off balance and to our defense for just going out and playing good baseball."
