The R-C Morning Report

A Carson Valley man faces 2-15 years in prison this morning at his sentencing scheduled for this morning in Douglas County District Court. Richard James Sargent, 49, was arrested on Sept. 11, 2012, after being reported driving recklessly. He admitted to one count of driving under the influence in January. A preliminary breath test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .121.

Highway 89 around Emerald Bay was closed Sunday due to an avalanche. Sunday saw the first significant moisture since the beginning of the year with the Valley receiving .15 inches, and up to 4 inches of snow in Heavenly Valley.

There's more on the way in the middle of the week, with snow levels expected to drop to the Valley floors. According to a statement issued by the National Weather Service, a colder storm is due in on Tuesday night.

There's a big old fog bank in the middle of the Valley, which should clear by 9 a.m. It will get into the 60s today before the downhill slide into colder weather in the middle of the week.
