SWIMMINGMichelle Forman (Douglas ’10), jr., Nevada: On the first day of the Mountain West Conference Championships in San Antonio, Forman joined the 800 free relay team in posting a school record time of 7:18.91. The time beat the previous school record by more than six seconds.Haley Von Schottenstein (Douglas ’10), jr., Whittier (California): At the SCIAC championships at the University of Redlands this week, Von Schottenstein swam a leg on Whittier’s seventh-place 400 free relay team.VOLLEYBALLMysta & Mia Townsell, Chicago State: The Townsell sisters both achieved academic All-Great West Conference honors for their efforts during the fall. Athletes honored had to post at least a 3.20 GPA.GOLFBethany Wurster (Douglas ’11), soph., Nevada: The Wolf Pack took eighth place at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford this week. Wurster finished 71st. RODEOGrant Denny (Douglas, ’11), fr., Feather River (California): Season resumes in the spring. WRESTLINGDillon Spates (Douglas, ’11), soph., Waldorf College (Iowa): Waldorf took eighth at the Northern Regional Qualifier last week. Spates fell twice in the 141-pound bracket.BASKETBALLChris Downs (Douglas, ’11), fr., G, Butte College (California): Butte beat Redwoods 53-46 and fell to Lassen 74-54 last week. Bri Burnside (Douglas, ’11), soph., F, College of the Siskiyous (California): Burnside is averaging 7.9 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this season. Siskiyous lost to Shasta 83-81 and beat Feather River 97-49 last week. Jorey Scott (Douglas, ’11), soph., F, Miramar College (California): Scott is averaging 6.8 points and seven rebounds per game for Miramar, which defeated Southwestern 67-62 and lost to Imperial Valley 86-67 last week.ICE HOCKEYDevyn Hotho (Douglas ’11), soph., F, St. Olaf College (Minnesota): St. Olaf fell twice to Gustavus Adolphus last week. Hotho scored a goal in a 7-4 loss. BASEBALLChris Balcom-Miller (Douglas ’06), RHP, Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox Double-A): Spring training games begin this weekend in Florida. Tyler Hoelzen (Douglas, ’09), sr., LHP, Sacramento State: The Hornets went 1-2 against Texas over the weekend. Hoelzen finished off the eighth in relief in the season opener, striking out the only batter he faced.Cody Begovich (Douglas, ’12), fr., LHP/OF, Northeastern State (Oklahoma): The RiverHawks went 3-2 through their first weekend of the season.
