Resolution calls for limits on federal power

A joint resolution introduced on Tuesday and sponsored by two Douglas County lawmakers would limit the federal government's reach in Nevada.

Sen. James Settelmeyer introduced Senate Joint Resolution 3 to the Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections on Tuesday.

The resolution claims sovereignty for the state of Nevada under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution.

The amendment reads "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."
