Maverik opening brings changes to Minden's entryway

The opening of the new Maverik meant a lot of things to different people on Wednesday.For a half-dozen people who were unemployed, it meant jobs. For the Holiday Inn Express, it meant a new entrance.And for Carson Valley, the addition will mean landscaping a desolate reminder of the economic collapse that turned it from a lifestyle center to a weed patch.More than 70 people turned up to watch the ribbon cutting on the gas station located across Highway 88 from Douglas High School.Minden Town Manager Jenifer Davidson said a $40,000 donation to the town that accompanied the opening will help …
