Center work could begin in July

Construction could begin in July, if Douglas County accepts the low bid for the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.A $16.98 million contract to build the center goes before county commissioners on Thursday.Work is scheduled to be finished by Christmas 2014, according to a report prepared by Community Services Director Scott Morgan.Members of the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Commission are scheduled to hear an update 6 p.m. tonight at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane.According to Morgan, most interior finishing, furnishing and equipment required to begin operating the center was deliberately removed from the project to help …
