Whether it's "Some Enchanted Evening," or "Women of the Wild West," there's a bunch of stuff going on this weekend in Carson Valley. Find out the where, when and why by picking up a copy of The Record-Courier on news stands now.
The snowpack built up during December and preserved during most of January is starting to wilt a bit. Ebbetts Pass, at the top of the Carson River basin, is still riding at 111 percent, according to Natural Resource Conservation Service telemetry. But some of the lower sites are starting to melt off with Horse Meadow down to 86 percent and Burnside Lake at 95 percent of snow-water equivalent. The whole basin is at 104 percent as of this morning. Tahoe's down to 93 percent.
It will be another gorgeous day with sunny skies, still winds and a high near 56 degrees. Tonight's low will drop down to a chilly 22 degrees. Expect more of the same through the weekend, with the next shot of moisture not arriving until Tuesday night.
