Final weekend for 'Some Enchanted Evening'

It was "Some Enchanted Evening" last weekend as Carson Valley Community Theatre performed the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein to a packed house.

The final weekend begins Friday in the CVIC Hall.

"We had a huge audience, and Sunday it was a full house. The performances have been top notch," Director Norris Edson said of opening weekend. "A lot of the audience was familiar with Rodgers and Hammerstein, and that's what was getting them out. The word of mouth about the talent is drawing them in."

The musical revue consists of 34 Rodgers and Hammerstein numbers including songs from "Oklahoma," "South Pacific," "The Sound of Music," "The King And I," and several more.

Edson said singers Chris Wortman and Melanie Bratsch stole the show with their "Don't Marry Me" sequence.

"It's humorous. It's a really cute number," he said. "They do a great job of portraying the songs."

Another stand out performance was "Soliloquy" by Skip Brown.

"He just does a tremendous job," Edson said. "It's from 'Carousel.'"

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon Sunday in the CVIC Hall.
