Suspect sought in Radio Shack burglary attempt

The public is being asked to help identify a suspect in an attempted burglary Dec. 29 at the Radio Shack in the Carson Valley Fair shopping center, 1329 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

A witness called the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 9:35 p.m. to report a man had tried to break into the store by shattering the glass in the front door with a wooden bat.

The witness said he yelled at the suspect who fled on foot through the shopping center, and disappeared around the corner of Rite-Aid.

The glass was broken, but the suspect apparently did not enter the store.

The man is described as Hispanic or Native American, 17-25 years old, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, medium build, medium length brown hair.

He was wearing a light-red or pink long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt, shin-length white shorts, black socks and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Hubkey at 782-9926 or DCSO investigations main line at 782-9905.
