A Sacramento-based FBI special agent, who lives in Minden, presented a flag Tuesday to the sheriff's office which had been flown over the agency's facility in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Brad Bilderback presented the flag to Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell and Sgt. Pat Brooks.
Bilderback said the American flag was flown at the FBI headquarters on May 15, 2012 in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
"We flew the flag for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office," Bilderback said. "I appreciate the hard work and outstanding job they do to keep our county safe."
Howell said he was grateful for the flag and Bilderback's comments.
"It's very much appreciated," Howell said. "We certainly work hard, and appreciation coming from citizens carries special meaning."
He said the flag and certificate would be displayed in the sheriff's office lobby in a case.
Bilderback was deployed to Afghanistan with the FBI from mid-January to mid-July last year.
