Funeral services were Wednesday in Urbandale, Iowa, for Edward G. Schiller, Sr., 94, who died Jan. 13, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Mr. Schiller is the father of Gardnerville businessman Mike Schiller. Born Aug. 23, 1918, in Aurora, Ill., to John and Margaret (Wermes) Schiller, he married Bette J. Brown in 1938 in South Bend, Ind. The couple moved to Des Moines in 1946. Ed was the owner and operator of Schiller Opticians until his retirement in 1979.
