Apparent low bid comes in at $1.01 million for Genoa revitalization project

A project to alter downtown Genoa will come in at right around $1 million after bids were opened on Wednesday.The low bidder was A&K Earth Movers out of Fallon with $1.013 million for the project. Next lowest bidder was Burdick Excavating Co. in Carson City with $1.03 million.The highest bid for the project, which will see the removal of the island in downtown and laying down pavers among other things, was $1.5 million.The estimate for construction downtown was $1.3 million.Douglas County approved spending $2.2 million on the Genoa Revitalization project. Part of that money went to build a 1.3 mile trail between Nevada’s oldest settlement and Walley’s Hot Springs.In addition, A&K bid on two alternates that if approved would extend the landscaping farther south toward Walley’s.
