Snow storm prompts accidents around Northern Nevada

A traffic accident at Highway 395 and Sixth Street in Minden resulted in nonlife threatening injuries after a light snowstorm struck Carson Valley this afternoon.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting three injury accidents in Western Nevada, including one at Interstate 580 and 80 and another at Interstate 580 and Highway 431 all in the last 90 minutes.

National Weather Service forecasters tracked an area of snow showers across the Tahoe basin and along Highway 395 through Western Nevada.

Snow was falling at a half-inch an hour with visibilities of around a mile. Forecasters said that wet roads can freeze quickly and that motorists on Highway 50 and 395 should watch out for black ice.
