The National Weather Service issued a special statement this morning that rain and snow last night created icy roads this morning where the snow's partially melted or rain fell before the freeze. The roads are expected to remain icy until around 10 a.m. Heavenly reported 6 inches of new snow overnight. Kirkwood reported 10 inches of snow at the summit.The mountain roads all have chain controls. Kingsbury and Highway 50 pretty much from Carson to Stateline require chains or snow tires, as does Highway 395 from Jake's Hill to Topaz.
