An abandoned suitcase lying on the ground next to the Minden McDonald's on Sunday night prompted the restaurant's evacuation and the closure of Highway 395.
The report of a suspicious package came in at about 9:10 p.m. Deputies evacuated the restaurant and closed the highway at the intersection with 88 and at Lucerne Street.
The item was a black soft-sided roller luggage lying flat on the ground near the west side trash can.
Members of the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad arrived and X-rayed the suitcase. The X-ray didn't show any signs of improvised explosives and the suitcase was taken into custody.
The highway was reopened and employees were allowed back in after the incident.
