Church pitches in on Toler landscaping

On Dec. 15, the Town of Gardnerville held a community service project to landscape Toler Lane.

The event was coordinated with Bishop Bo Jackson of Carson Valley's Third Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

"On behalf of the Gardnerville residents and town board and staff, we sincerely thank Bishop Jackson and more than 30 of the Third Ward volunteers for giving up their personal time on Saturday to plant more than 400 flowers, shrubs and trees along Toler Lane during the 3.5-hour project," said Town Manager Tom Dallaire.

The project extended from Gardnerville Elementary School to Meadow Court, near Harvest Ave. in Chichester Estates. Impact Construction removed two inches of old grass and soil, and town staff prepared the area by locating and placing rocks, and digging holes for planting.

The remaining shrubs will be planted by staff at a later time, Dallaire said.

"Come spring, Toler Lane will not only be green, but will be blooming with color," he said.
