One of the few elements listed on the periodic table to have its own month, radon is tasteless, colorless, odorless and deadly. The radioactive gas seeps into homes through miniscule cracks. The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is holding two workshops in Douglas County, a radon hotspot, in January. The first one is 6 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Stateline offices of the TRPA, the second is 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
