After a long bus trip to San Diego Wednesday morning, the Douglas boys basketball team got off to a slow start in what ended up being a 57-45 loss to Thunderbird (Ariz.) in the first round of the Under Armour Holiday Classic Wednesday night.
Douglas fell behind 17-11 through the first quarter and got outscored 13-5 in the second before taking the second half 29-27.
Hunter Myers led the Tigers with 17 points while Michael Nolting added 12 in the loss. James Herrick scored four, Pat Johnson and Jaden Wass each hit a 3-pointer and Austin Evans, Sam Broersma and Jaden Mustacchio each scored two in the loss.
Douglas next plays Thursday morning in the tournament's consolation bracket.
