Jackson should have been finalist

On Dec. 11, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection forwarded three applicants names to Gov. Brian Sandoval who will select the next District Court Judge for the Ninth Judicial District, Dept 1. It is a travesty that Douglas County District Attorney Mark Jackson's name was not among the three.

After reading all seven applications, (posted online at: nevadajudiciary.us), it was very clear to me that Mark is the most qualified person to replace retiring Judge Dave Gamble. His application was, by far, the most comprehensive, thorough, impressive and interesting. In addition to that, Mark is an extremely ethical, intelligent and dedicated district attorney for our county. The commission simply got it wrong. Once again I am disillusioned by political agendas that affect the outcome of government, even at the local level.

A collective sigh was heard throughout the community as, although disappointed Mark's name was not among the final three applicants, we are glad he will remain the district attorney of Douglas County.
