The R-C Morning Report

Chains or snow tires are being required on Highway 50 from about half way up Spooner to the state line. Chains or four wheel drive are being required over Carson and Luther passes in Alpine County. A winter storm warning is in effect for eastern Lyon County.

Wednesday's storm produced 8 inches of snow at Heavenly Ski Area. The Carson River basin is running 180 percent of snow water equivalent, according to the Natural Resource Conservation Service telemetry. Ebbetts Pass has 12.6 inches of moisture locked in its snow pack.

There's a chance we'll see snow in the Valley this morning before 10 a.m. Expect the rest of the day to be partly sunny with a high near 40 degrees. It's 19 degrees out this morning watch out for ice on the road.
