St. Gall hosts Christmas dinner

People in the community who will be without their family on Dec. 25 are invited to the 14th annual "Noel Christmas Dinner for Those Without Family" at St. Gall Catholic Church

Dinner is 1 to 4 p.m. in the pastoral center of the church located at 1343 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

"It is a free event, and those who come enjoy a traditional Christmas meal with all the trimmings, plus a lot more," coordinator Rita Hill said. "It is hoped that they will find a family atmosphere and caring environment at this event."

When guests arrive they are invited to mingle with snacks and drinks, and pick out their place at the tables. Dinner is a traditional menu of turkey and ham with all the trimmings and dessert.

Each person is asked to bring a wrapped gift for their gender of $10 or less for the gift exchange.

"Many people meet others they know in the community, or make new friends at the dinner," Hill said. "Last Christmas 162 people were served, including guests and volunteers."

To reserve a place at the dinner and receive a written invitation, or to volunteer to help or to make a donation, call Hill at 783-9908.

If she is unavailable, leave your name and phone number, so organizers have an accurate count to help plan the food.
