The R-C Morning Report

New graduation rates show Nevada at 62 percent for the 2010-11 school year, which isn't very good, but is way better than the 50 percent previously reported. The top state is Iowa with 88 percent, according to information released by the U.S. Department of Education on Tuesday. By way of comparison, the graduation rate in Douglas County in 2011 was 87.4 percent, according to the Nevada Department of Education. That's up to 90.4 percent for the 2011-12 school year.

Up to a quarter inch of rain fell in portions of Carson Valley on Wednesday as the first rinse cycle of this storm wrapped up. Tonight a high wind warming starts at 10 p.m. and continuing through Friday afternoon with southwest winds 30-40 mph gusting to 70 mph. Some areas will see gusts of up to 80 mph.

Today we'll be looking at mostly cloudy skies and a high near 55 degrees. Expect south winds 15-25 mph gusting to 40 mph. There's a flood watch for Saturday night as snow levels rise to near 10,000 feet before a cold front passes and puts an end to that.
