Still winds may clear way for fireworks show

The wind in Gardnerville has died down, which may mean fireworks will be a go for tonight's Gardnerville's Christmas kickoff.

While townspeople planned to move forward with the event at 5:30 p.m. regardless of the weather, it's illegal for fireworks to be launched when the wind is blowing faster than 15 mph.

Gardnerville Town Manager Tom Dallaire is meeting with Fire Marshal Steve Eisele to determine the fate of the fireworks show.

Even if the town gets the all-clear, it's possible that fireworks show firm Lantis will cancel the program if the wind picks up in the next hour for …
