Hearing set for accused stalker

A hearing is Dec. 5 for a 24-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man accused of multiple stalking incidents involving teenage girls.

Edgar Oronia-Camacho is facing two misdemeanor counts of stalking from incidents which allegedly occurred in September.

A 17-year-old girl reported that she was at the Ranchos Car Wash on Sept. 19 when a man stopped his vehicle on Kimmerling Road, adjacent to the car wash and tried to get her attention.

She said the man was nodding his head and honking his horn at her. She waved him off, indicating he should leave her alone, according to reports.

The man pulled into an adjacent car wash stall near the teenager and continued trying to get her attention, which she attempted to ignore. He drove across Kimmerling Road into the parking lot across from the car wash, stopped, and continued staring at the teenager. The 17-year-old got in her vehicle to drive away. He drove back to the car wash parking lot near the girl.

She called 911 and reported to incident to sheriff's office dispatchers. On their advice, she went inside the nearby 7-Eleven store and reported the incident to the clerk.

They watched the man drive around the building, and stop near the gas pumps where he could look inside the store. When the clerk went out to confront him, the man drove away. He is suspected of committing a similar act earlier that day involving a 16-year-old, according to reports.

Oronia-Camacho was a suspect in a similar incident in 2010, but there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him, according to reports.

Derrick Lopez, Oronia-Camacho's lawyer, said his family had hired an immigration attorney to determine the consequences of a conviction on his residential status.
