This is in response to the letter from Tommy Wilson-O'Brien, published on Nov. 9. I don't want to discuss the many, and in my opinion, inappropriate, attacks on the reporting of The Record-Courier, and the sincere letters to the editor regarding the recent electoral season. His comments are not worthy, in my opinion, of any further discussion.
I would like to offer an observation about the more than 16,000 people in Douglas County who would not or at least did not vote for a national party that advocates that which Almighty God has spoken of as clearly an abomination and invites His wrath. The Democratic Party has included in their national party platform the advocacy for abortions, (let us call it what it really is; murder of babies in the womb), "homosexual marriage" (which is an impossibility), and government funding of condoms and baby killing pills. Mr. Wilson-O'Brien says that he is OK with contributing his $30,720 per year to these causes.
He may be happy to support these abominations, but there are a lot of us who do not. I commend the vast majority of the voters of Douglas County for standing by Godly moral principles. It is nice to know that we live in a county with so many upright and moral people, as opposed to living in places that resemble the city of Sodom. I think most people know what happened in Sodom, if not, please read Genesis 19. It is clear from the total of the scriptures that God will judge not only individuals but also nations for the total disregard of His law that is clearly shown in the Bible. The Democratic Party is a modern day manifestation of Romans chapter 1, verses 18-32.
It is ironic that a party who prides themselves in defending those that cannot defend themselves (so they say), then turn around and promote a policy advocating the murder of those least able to defend themselves - the babies in the womb. That is hypocrisy of the worst kind! This is a political party that is promoting a Holocaust far worse by comparison than any Holocaust in history. World wide, 50 to 60 million babies are murdered each year. In America alone, at least 1.5 million per year, (that is more than 4,000 per day, more than 170 per hour).
Do we think that God will not punish a nation that shows such disregard for His Holy Law? If we do, we are badly mistaken. There is hope however, as we note, that after listing those things for which God gives individuals and nations over to a debased mind because they want to not retain God in their knowledge and as a result the righteous judgement of God comes, as stated in Romans 1:28-32. The next chapter, Romans 2 verse 4 states; "Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?" We can look to His perfect goodness if we are willing to go to Him in repentance. Let us pray that God will grant us the willingness to repent and the ability to seek His face and perhaps His Mercy will be shown to us.
