Dear Other Half: As you rejoice Tuesday night's victory, stop and consider your opposition who are not just feeling the sting of a loss - which is cyclical and a natural consequence of all elections - but, believe we were on and now continue down the wrong path.
I, as many others, believe this progression towards bigger government will lead to the unraveling of The American Dream: a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work (not government intrusion and manipulation). The proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things.
We Americans find ourselves in the middle of a "ideological civil war" which will inevitably result in family division and friendships lost due to irrevocable differences.
In the end, I am left wondering, if in the future government encroachment becomes too great, to which shores will our children's children escape?
