Linda Marie Monohan passed away Nov. 15, 2012 in her home in Fish Springs, Gardnerville, Nev. Linda was born and raised in Pacoima, Calif. to Eva and William Rosten. She married Norbert Monohan on July 9, 1960 and became a "Navy wife" until Sep. of 1968. Linda then became a housewife until the children started school. She obtained a job as a school nurse for 10 years in Lakeside, Calif., then a school secretary for 20 years at Gardnerville Elementary School. Linda was also an EMT/Firefighter for the Fish Springs VFD for 20 years. Her favorite hobby/pastime was writing a local column for the Record Courier, the "Fish Springs Flier" and the Sierra Scoop, "Behind the Sagebrush". Linda also wrote numerous articles published in Motorcycle, Fire, Medical and Travel magazines. She also enjoyed Country Western dancing, touring/camping by motorcycle and visiting with family and friends.
Linda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Norbert; daughters, Lisa Welch, Cindy Fenton, Christy Blach; six grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters, Rosalyn Doyon, Bonnie Rieger; brothers, Micheal, Dan, Tim Rosten and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at St. Gall's Catholic Church on Dec. 8, 2012 at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Linda Monohan to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern Nevada, 1301 Cordone Ave., Suite 180, Reno, NV, 89502.
