A pickup involved in a rollover accident near the intersection of highways 395 and 88 on Monday night was reported stolen in Carson City this morning.
Witnesses called 911 at about 10:54 p.m. to report the accident. The pickup knocked down a power pole, leaving live wires on the highway and closing the road.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol spokeswoman Barbara Stapleton, the pickup was southbound on Highway 395 when it left the right side of the highway and collided with the pole before rolling over onto its roof.
After learning the driver had left the scene, Douglas County deputies checked with area hospitals and open businesses to see if the driver came in for help.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
