Marines observed the 237th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps in Minden on Friday, a day before the actual date.About three-dozen Marines, spouses of Marines and even a young daughter of a Marine attended the annual ceremony at the Douglas County Judicial & Law Enforcement Building.Organized by Undersheriff Paul Howell and Alternative Sentencing Chief Mike Beam, the Marines also observed the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal.Marine Dominic Tanzi was a veteran of the battle that saw nearly 1,000 Marine casualties.
