Genoans delayed accepting responsibility for the Destination Vista Trail to Walley's after townspeople protested that the town couldn't afford to maintain the improvements it has, much less a 1.3 mile trail that mostly lies outside the town's boundaries. Town Board members asked that the manager obtain a legal opinion from either the town's attorney or the District Attorney.
Yesterday's surprise for us wasn't that Dean Heller won the U.S. Senate race (according to unofficial results issued by the Secretary of State's Office), but that the annual Parade of Lights is starting at Heritage Park instead of Lampe. The parade is Dec. 1 this year and will travel all the way to Minden Park.
A development application for an outdoor event area behind the Carson Valley Inn is before members of the Minden Town Board tonight. The area will be connected to the Martin Slough Trail, which is the construction project going on behind the CVI and the sheriff's office now.
We're supposed to get a visit from Old Man Winter on Thursday, but before he arrives we have to go through high wind and fire weather watches today. It's going to be a blustery night with winds 20-35 mph gusting to 60-70 mph late tonight and lasting through Thursday afternoon. Low humidity with the wind is what's prompting the fire watch. We may see snow in the Valley on Friday morning.
