Traffic stop results in seizure of 7.5 pounds of marijuana in Elko

A routine traffic stop near Elko resulted in the seizure of 7.5 pounds of marijuana on Sunday morning.

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper stopped an eastbound black Mercedes Benz for speeding and as he approached the vehicle he noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the car.

The driver was identified by his Nevada license as 35-year-old, William Dashawn Nixon out of Lorain Ohio, his male passenger was identified as 27-year-old, Lewis R. Price from Ohio.

NHP Spokeswoman Barbara Stapleton said that during the traffic stop the trooper noticed that Nixon appeared to be nervous and fidgeting in his seat …
