While Douglas County didn't crack its previous election turnout record, it did have the highest percentage of voters cast a ballot in the state during the 2012 election, according to the Nevada Secretary of State's Office.
According to figures released this morning, the county had a 91.61 percent turnout, with 8,802 votes on Election Day. That's far fewer than the 13,784 early voters and 3,514 absentee ballots, which represented more than 60 percent of the electorate.
Douglas County Clerk Treasurer Ted Thran said voting was brisk early on Tuesday but wound down as the day progressed.
