W. P. Merrill of Woodfords had a runaway Wednesday with a team hitched to a two-horse wagon. They ran down the road and into a spring wagon, with two horses driven by Mrs. H. A. Grover and Mrs. Ed. Dolan. The ladies were thrown out of the wagon, which was completely demolished.

Chairman Walker of the State Fuel commission, this week appointed E. J. Phillips, Geo. A. Montrose and Dr. F. T. Brown to serve on a fuel committee for Douglas County. It is understood that there is immediate need for at least two car loads of coal at this place.

Miss Doris Dangberg, who has been acting as deputy county clerk and helping H. R. Jepsen get out his tax statements, is a brave young lady and for the past three weeks had fought a one-sided political battle that would have been a credit to the "Happy Warrior."

Results of Tuesday's general election in Douglas County show that there will be two new faces in the county government, one new face in the state legislature, and three new faces on the school board. But despite all the new faces, not a single incumbent seeking re-election this week was defeated.

Parents living in the Foothill area say they are surprised by the Douglas County School Board's decision to adopt elementary school boundary changes affecting about 76 of their children. To accommodate the Valley's fourth and newest elementary school, Scarselli Elementary, trustees voted Tuesday night to realign elementary boundaries.

Citing new school regulations, Douglas County School District officials have denied a request to allow the Douglas High School band to travel to New York City next year. School Superintendent John Soderman said Friday revised regulations drawn up in April 2002 by administrators keep travel of extracurricular groups to 150 miles and adjacent states. '
