More than 1,000 little ghouls and goblins passed down Trick-or-Treat Safety Street last night. Organizers gave away 15 of 16 bicycles and about 360 books during the night.

Douglas County commissioners today will hear presentations on the viability of a business science park, the Discovery Trail through the Pine Nuts, and the discuss expanding the Tahoe-Douglas District to provide drainage and water services. They meet 1 p.m. today in the Emergency Operations Center at 1694 County Road while their digs in the old county courthouse are being used for early voting.
