Electrical panel fire shuts down AVK plant

A fire in an electrical panel shut down the AVK manufacturing plant on Tuesday morning.

The fire damaged the main switch for the plant, knocking power out, according to East Fork Capt. Terry Taylor.

Taylor said firefighters responded at 5:40 a.m. He said the fire was likely caused by dust and grit in the panel, which caused it to arc and blow out the panel. No one was hurt in the fire.
