Girls' Soccer: Douglas shuts out Damonta Ranch

Douglas senior Lexie Weaver scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, leading the Tiger girls' soccer over Damonte Ranch 4-0 in Minden Friday night.

Weaver slipped a pass across the front of the net for McKenna Kynett in the third minute of the game and Kynett one-touched the ball into the net for the early 1-0 lead.

The Tiger defense, led by Carly Johnson, Hannah Coverley, Megan Sheets, Ericka Arellano and keeper Corryne Millett, made that lead stick for the majority of the match before a late flurry of goals pushed the score to its final.

Weaver got loose on a breakaway in the 62nd minute, sprinting nearly 30 yards before boosting a shot from 10 yards out to the high center portion of the net.

Kynett extended the lead to 3-0 on a laser shot 20-yard from the far right wing that bounced in off the far high corner.

Weaver added the fourth and final goal after a direct kick trickled past the defense and she tapped it home in the 71st minute.
