Man jailed after positive test for methamphetamine

A 28-year-old Gardnerville man who is awaiting sentence for possession of stolen property was ordered Tuesday held without bail after he tested positive for methamphetamine.

District Judge Dave Gamble ordered Ryan Hiltz to stay in custody until his sentencing Dec. 4.

"This is like the 4,000th example of why we don't let people out of custody who are tweakers," Gamble said.

Hiltz was arrested Oct. 10, after testing positive for methamphetamine. He reportedly told a Department of Alternative Sentencing officer that he used following an appearance in East Fork Justice Court.
