The Business Council of Douglas County, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and The Record-Courier are sponsoring a town hall debate in the two races for county commission. Challengers Frank Godeck and Barry Penzel will face off with incumbents Doug Johnson and Mike Olson tonight starting at 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall. Former commissioner Jacques Etchegoyhen will moderate. The doors open at 5 p.m.

I saw workers covering the former Riverwood flattop in the north county with a black material that could well be the promised grindings. Whatever they're doing, it's to keep the big pile where it is when the wind blows.

An 18-year-old Gardnerville man faces up to a decade in prison this morning in connection with 19 burglaries committed in Indian Hills on the evening of July 9.
