Richard (Dick) J. Scholfield, 88 , passed away at Carson Tahoe Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Barnes, KS and grew up on a farm with 7 brothers and sisters. Dick went to the university of Missouri and played football for the Tigers. He played in two Gator Bowls. Dick joined the Marine Corps in 1943 serving in World War II in the Gilbert, Marianas and Iwo Jima theaters. After college he worked for Ellinger Sales Corp. until it closed in 1991. He and his wife, Helen, moved to San Diego where they lived until moving to the Carson Valley in 1996. Dick was a member of the Carson Valley Citizens Patrol and Footprinters. He loved all things western especially books.
He was preceeded in death by a grandson. Dick is survived by his wife of almost 65 years. Helen, of Gardnerville, Sons Stephen (Eva) Scholfield of Scottsdale, AZ, Terry of Reno, Daughter Christine (Bill) Banker of Gardnerville, a brother Delmar (Mary Lou) Scholfield of Greeley, CO, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
