Average gas prices in the Silver State rose 14.3 cents a gallon over the past week, averaging $3.91 a gallon on Sunday, according to Nevadagasprices.com. It was pretty obvious that some outlets were increasing their prices a dime overnight during the weekend. We should see some correction to the problems that caused our gas prices to skyrocket this week, according to GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

It's Columbus Day, so the Post Office and banks will be closed, as will federal offices. It will be business as usual for state and county offices, because we traded Columbus Day for Nevada Day, which will be observed Oct. 27 this year. Nevada's actual birthday is on Halloween.

The precipitation forecast for today has been pushed back to Wednesday by the National Weather Service. Today expect mostly sunny skies, and a high temperature of 72 degrees. Low temperatures are expected to remain well above freezing through the week.
