The Douglas High girls' tennis team captured a narrow 10-8 victory over the McQueen Lancers in the first round of the Northern Division I regional playoffs in Minden Tuesdy afternoon.
Douglas opened up an 8-4 lead through two rounds and then needed a pair of third-round wins to hold of a late Lancer charge.
Kari TenBroeck and Courtney McKimmey each won two sets on the singles side and Ann Pomroy clinched one of the decisive sets in the third, taking a 6-4 win over Carlyn Moran.
Ingrid Carlson and Kelly Sonnemann won all three of their sets on the doubles side, Marissa Cowan and Kellie Hergenrader won once and Bryana McNamara and Kaitlin Teigen won once.
Douglas advanced to the regional semifinals Thursday at Reno High School.
