Donald Dwane Everett, who resides with his parents at Minden, and who is one of the eight men ordered to leave for American Lake this afternoon, under the selective draft, appeared before the county board yesterday and notified them that he would not go to war and was ready to face the consequences. It is understood that religious beliefs entertained by Mr. Everett, does not allow him to take part in war.

Judge Frank H. Norcross Wednesday entered an order in the federal court approving the fourth report of Thomas Williams, receiver previously appointed by the court to take over the Ambro Rosashi ranches in Lyon and Mineral counties and confirming and approving the sale of the personal property of the Rosaschis. The Lyon county ranch was sold by the receiver September 30 at public auction to W.F. Dressler for $43,600.

Deer season, long-waited by hunters, opens in most areas of Nevada this weekend. A small area near Jarbridge in northernmost Elko County got the jump on the rest of the state by opening its season last Sunday, Sept. 30, but the other areas open their seasons either Oct. 6 or 7.

Douglas County residents may have more to celebrate than Admission Day at the end of October when highway officials expect to open all four new lanes of U.S. 395 between Minden and Carson City to through traffic.

Tucked inside tiny crevices, an interior construction crew remodeling the old Cutthroat Saloon have made what amounts to archaeological discoveries. A Duke's Cameo cigarette pack from 1886, a 1903 Sacramento Bee, square nails, 2-foot-wide boards and, strangely enough, five layers of wallpaper.
