The Douglas County Historical Society’s lecture for October is 7 p.m., Oct. 11 at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville. Phillip Earl will be the speaker. His topic is “Ghosts, Ghoulies and Things that go Bump in the Night.”He will touch on the psychology of people who believe in ghosts, the folklore of those who work in dangerous occupations, the spiritual beliefs of Native Americans and more. Earl is the former curator of history for the Nevada Historical Society. He is a teacher, lecturer, consultant and author of history.
