The Douglas High School tennis teams picked up key league wins against Damonte Ranch to wrap up the regular season Thursday afternoon.
The Tiger boys team defeated Damonte Ranch13-5, powered by a particularly strong day out of the doubles lineup.
The teams of Connor Lyons-Michael Johnson and Joey Swisher-Zac Pelcher each won three sets and the team of Tyler Cottrill and Keaton Peters won two sets.
On the singles' side, Cody Tindel and Pat Johnson each won two sets and Austin Ball collected Douglas' remaining point on the day with a win.
Douglas advanced to the regional team playoffs as the third seed out of the Sierra League. The Tigers traveled to McQueen on Tuesday for the first round of the regional playoffs.
The winner advances to the semifinals on Thursday and the finals are scheduled for Friday at the Lakeridge Tennis Club in Reno.
For the girls, Douglas easily handled Damonte, winning 15-3.
Courtney McKimmey won all three of her sets, Kari TenBroeck won two sets and Tara Cottrill won one set to account for all of the Tigers' singles scoring.
The Tigers made a clean sweep of the doubles slate, winning all nine sets.
Ingrid Carlson and Kelly Sonnemann won three sets, Bryana McNamara and Kaitlin Teigen won three sets and Marissa Cowan and Kellie Hergenrader won three sets.
With the win, the Lady Tigers clinched the No. 2 seed out of the Sierra League. They hosted McQueen Tuesday. The winner advances to the regional semifinals Thursday at 3 p.m. and the finals are set for Friday at the Caughlin Athletic Club in Reno at 3 p.m.
Because both the boys and girls teams made the team playoffs, both squads will get to send a full starting lineup (three singles players and three doubles teams) to next week's regional individual championships at Galena High School and the Caughlin Athletic Club.
The regional singles tournament begins Oct. 10 at Galena High and continues Oct. 12-13 at the Caughlin Club. The regional doubles tournament runs Oct. 11-13 at the Caughlin Club.
