Gardnerville town board members will discuss putting in a bid for the Eagle Gas Station at their meeting 4:30 p.m. today. The gas station is up for auction on Wednesday. There are some issues with the reporting on the underground tanks that might hold Gardnerville back. If they purchase the station, they’ve budgeted to dig up the tanks and then turn the thing into a parking lot. Gardnerville meets at the town offices on Main Street.
Douglas County Parks & Recreation Board members will meet 6 p.m. to discuss an update on the multi-generational center scheduled to break ground on Oct. 18. County commissioners will talk about selling a second wave of bonds to help fund the center on Thursday.
Our warm fall will continue today with the high climbing toward 90 degrees. Reno forecasters are talking about breaking records, but we’ve got a ways to go before that happens. The record for Minden was 93 degrees set in 2001. Markleeville is forecast to tie its record of 86 degrees today set in 1933. The ridge of high pressure will move off on Wednesday, cooling us off a bit.
