Where are they now? Updates on former Carson Valley high school sports standouts


Jeff Nady (Douglas '07), sr., OL, Nevada: Nady started at tackle for the Wolf Pack as Nevada rolled up 355 rushing yards in a 69-24 win at Hawaii last week.

Billy Coats (Douglas '06), sr., LS, Navy: Navy beat VMI 41-3 Saturday.

Garrett Tenney (Douglas '09), soph., LB, Jamestown: The Jimmies fell to Valley City 13-10 over the weekend. Tenney had three solo tackles and five total.


Katie Dry (Douglas, '11), fr., M, Wake Forest: Wake Forest is 8-3-1 on the year and 2-2-0 in ACC play. Last week, the Deamon Deacons beat Boston College 2-0 and fell to Maryland 2-1. Dry has played in all 12 games for Wake Forest. She's scored once and recorded four shots.

Alex Laing (Douglas '10), fr., M, Nevada: Nevada is 4-5-1 to start the year. The Wolf Pack beat Weber State 3-2 in overtime on Sept. 14 and lost to No. 15 California on Sunday.

Eddie Vega (Douglas, '07), sr., M, UNLV: The Rebels are 2-7-1 on the year. Vega has played in all 10 games and started nine. He has a goal and an assist on the year with four shots on goal.

Bri Randall (Douglas, '11), fr., GK, Regis: Regis is 5-2-1 on the year with wins over Colorado Christian and UC-Colorado Springs last week. Randall has played in five games and started three. She has four wins and 19 saves to her credit.


Mysta Townsell (Douglas '09), jr., Chicago State: Chicago State fell to Wright State and DePaul last week. Townsell has eight aces, 167 digs and two kills on the year.

Mia Townsell (Douglas '10), soph., Chicago State: Chicago State fell to Wright State and DePaul last week. Townsell has 225 digs, 14 aces and three kills on the year.

Christine DuPuis (Douglas '09), jr., UMass-Boston: UMass is 9-5 on the year and 3-0 in conference play. DuPuis has 29 digs and six aces on the year.

Shannon Dugan (Douglas '10), soph., Lynn University: Lynn is 9-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play on the year. Dugan has 95 kills, 11 assists, 18 aces, 102 digs and 18 blocks.

Brenna White (Douglas '10), soph., Mercy College: White has a team-leading 197 kills in 11 matches to go with 12 aces, 11 assists, 102 digs and five blocks.

Keely Latham (Douglas '10), soph., University of Charleston: Charleston defeated West Virginia Wesleyan and Bluefield College last week. Latham has 22 kills, three assists, four digs and nine blocks on the year.

Emily Garcia (Douglas '10), soph., Bentley University: Bentley beat Mercy College and lost to LIU Post last week. Garcia has four kills, three digs and three blocks on the year.

Jacqueline Harper (Douglas '10), soph., Notre Dame de Namur: Harper has played in eight matches, starting two, while recording six kills, 120 assists, two aces, 25 digs and three blocks.

Megan Mitchell (Douglas '08), sr., Lees-McRae: The Bobcats are 6-6 and have won their last three matches. Mitchell has 122 assists, five kills, 14 aces, 34 digs and four blocks.

Erin Allison (Douglas '10), soph., Marymount University: Marymount has won its last eight matches.

Tiffany Patrick (Sierra Lutheran, '11), fr., Concordia (Nebraska): The Bulldogs are 5-10 on the year.


Haley Von Schottenstein (Douglas '10), jr., Whittier: Season starts Oct. 20 at the Bulldog Swim Invite at Redlands.


Bethany Wurster (Douglas '11), soph., Nevada: After transferring from Oregon State, Wurster has competed in Nevada's first three matches this season. She placed 24th at the season-opening tournament at Colorado State, tied for 74th at the Oregon State Invitational and tied for 68th at the WSU Cougar Cup at Washington State last week.


Nathanael Williams (Sierra Lutheran, '11), fr., Colorado School of Mines: The Orediggers won the Woody Greeno Invite last week.

Becky Grabow (Sierra Lutheran, '11), fr., Pacific: Grabow ran a 23:22 at the Sonoma State Invite last weekened, helping the Tigers to a third-place finish.


Grant Denny (Douglas, '11), fr., Feather River: Season opens Oct. 4 at Feather River.
