CV Medical Center names new CEO

Susan Davila has been appointed as the chief executive officer of Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville.

Davila started working on Sept. 17. In her role, she will oversee the operations of the hospital, the seven clinics operated by CVMC, and the 325 employees of the organization.

Prior to her position with CVMC, Davila served as a chief executive officer since 2007 at Desert View Regional Medical Center in Pahrump. She has also held positions throughout her healthcare career as chief financial officer, chief information officer, clinic director and support specialist at hospitals and medical centers spanning back to 1989.

She joins CVMC with a successful record of fostering strong organizational teams, building programs and developing professional physician relationships, the hospital said in a press release.

"I am looking forward to joining Carson Valley Medical Center at such an exciting time in its history," Davila said. "Next year marks CVMC's 20th anniversary of providing quality healthcare services to the Carson Valley. It's the perfect time to take the organization to the next level with the implementation of electronic medical records and telemedicine services, as well as expanding access to care and renewing our connections with the community."

Davila replaces outgoing CEO Bill Hale, who announced his retirement earlier this month.

Carson Valley Medical Center has also welcomed general surgeon Soon O. Kim to their healthcare team.

Dr. Kim comes to the Carson Valley from Winnemuca, where she was chief of surgery at Humboldt General Hospital.

She received her medical degree from the University of Illinois and has more than 20 years of experience in general surgery. She specializes in a variety of traditional and minimally invasive surgical procedures and will be performing elective and emergency surgeries at CVMC.

Dr. Kim can be reached at Job's Peak General Surgery office at 783-3020.
