Thos. Stevens the well known stage driver and hotel keeper has closed the Lake Shore House at Glenbrook and with his wife will seek another location. The only public hotel left in Glenbrook is the one owned by F.S. Jellerson.

September 28, 1917
A few days ago, a coyote, acting strangely, was seen in a field a short distance north of the prison. A guard took a shot at the animal but missed. The coyote did not run away but floundered around in a manner that aroused curiosity. Investigation proved that the animal was harmless - that it had muzzled itself by getting its head firmly caught in a tin can. A club was used in killing the self-muzzled coyote.

Dr. F. H. Baker has been appointed meat inspector for Douglas county and has already entered upon his additional duties. With a meat inspection ordinance in force in Washoe county all meat shipped to Reno must be inspected and the appointment of Dr. Baker has been made as a convenience to Carson Valley farmers that ship meat to that point.

September 27, 1962
Three Carson Valley men received $100 fines this week in East Fork Justice Court for littering the public highway. Fined were Leonard Decker, Elmer Crawford, and Eugene Simpson. The men were also placed on a one-year probation from 30-day sentences in the County Jail. The trio were arrested by Douglas County Deputies when they were found sleeping in a car, near which were four beer cans and an empty six-pack carton.

Headlining this year's Big John Strong Circus Variety Show on Saturday is Ray Gran and Roger Hawes with their giant marionettes. The two men just completed a run at the Lido de Paris in Paris, France.

The inaugural "Laughter from the Lake," Golf Tournament and Comedy Show takes place Sunday in two venues. This Make-A-Wish of Northern Nevada benefit event follows the poker run and concert held last weekend in Gardnerville and Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch, for the same purpose.
