Dinner and silent auction benefit Gardnerville family

On Aug. 13, Gardnerville resident Margarito Meza was severely injured while working as a lineman for Comcast Cable Company in Santa Clara, Calif.

Electricity entered the 48-year-old's back and exited from his left hand, leaving burns on his neck and face.

"He's stable. He's doing as well as can be expected," friend Lucia Gray said. "They have him on a lot of pain medication."

Meza is in the burn unit in Santa Clara Medical Center, where he is expected to stay for at least two months.
