Obituary: Richard "Dick" Charles Kostner

We mourn the loss of our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend. A Korean War Veteran, Purple Heart Recipient, proud American businessman, innovator, 49ers lifetime fan, golfer and fisherman.

Survived are his beautiful wife of 56 years, Peggy (Gardnerville, Nev.); daughters, Penny Swanson (Fountain, Colo.) and Pam Tunnicliffe (Bakersfield, Calif.); sons, Bob Kostner (Corona, Calif.) and Bill Kostner (Bakersfield, Calif.) and their families. In lieu of flowers, please honor him thru

I love you Daddy.

Now it is my turn.

I am his (beautiful) wife who happily married Dick in Carmel, Calif. We were together for fifty-six years, 3 months, 2 weeks and 6 days.

He served in the Korean War at 17 years old. Due to a very severe injury, along with his bravery, he received not only a Purple Heart, but also a Combat Infantry Badge, U.N. Service Ribbon and Bronze Star Medal.

He was born in St. Paul, Minn. At a young age the family moved out to California where his father was going to work in the shipyards near San Francisco.

He was the third child of seven siblings that are scattered from California up to Oregon, over to Colorado. They are Bob Kostner, Lois Gylock, Jerry Kostner, Ron Kostner, Marlene Cowan and Cathy Kostner.

"Our family" just keeps on growing. Starting with our four wonderful families, Penny (Frank Swanson), Pam (Billy Underhill), Bob Kostner (Shawn) and Bill Kostner (Lisa).

Dick's buttons have never stopped POPPING over his 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

P.S. MY LOVE, SINCE WE SAID OUR GOODBYES... EVERY DAY I raise and lower our flag, and I look up to the heavens and to the stars. I wish you good morning, and good night.
